Signing up for Public Testing / Demonstration

If you would like to be notified when public testing is taking place, send an e-mail to innrevival@gmail.com letting us know of your interest.  When the time comes, all of the pertinent information will be sent to you via e-mail.

Installing and Configuring ImagiNation

The ImagiNation client software that is linked on this page is packaged in a ZIP file which you can extract anywhere on your system.  It will automatically create a directory 'INN' and place all of the files within it.  These instructions will assume that you are running Windows and that the ZIP has been extracted in the root of your C drive so that the INN files would be located at C:\INN

After you have extracted the files, there is one configuration change you must make.  Edit the LSCI.CFG file, and find the line that looks like this:

    modem          = ATDT127.0.0.1:4000

This line should be changed to reflect our new DNS name and the proper port number:

    modem          = ATDTinnrevival.game-host.org:17

Installing and Configuring DOSBox

The link at the left will take you to the downloads page of the DOSBox project.  There you should be able to find a version of DOSBox that will run on most operating systems (Windows, OS X, Linux, etc...)  For the ImagiNation client to connect to the server certain features that are only available in the newest versions of DOSBox are required.  We have only tested with versions 0.65 and 0.70 of DOSBox.

Installing DOSBox is very straightforward.  A standard installation program is included for Windows, which will install the program by default in C:\Program Files\DOSBox-0.70 (for version 0.70 of course).  When the installation is complete, you will need to make one change to the configuration file DOSBOX.CONF in the DOSBox directory to get the network features working.

In DOSBOX.CONF there is a section labled '[serial]'.  By default this section will look something like this:

 The first entry in the section 'serial1=disabled' needs to be changed to 'serial1=modem'  This will tell DOSBox that we want a virtual modem on COM Port #1, which is the Port that ImagiNation is configured to use by default.

Getting On-Line

When the time comes to get on-line, your first step will be to launch DOSBox.  After you do this you must tell DOSBox where to find the ImagiNation Network software.  You will do this by setting DOSBox's C: drive to point to the directory where you installed INN.  If you installed INN in the directory 'C:\INN', then you would enter the following command:

mount C: C:\INN

After entering this command you will be able to change to the C: drive in DOSBox and launch ImagiNation using the command:

inn

Here is an example screenshot of what all of this looks like in DOSBox:

Now you should be all set to run ImagiNation and get on-line (during scheduled testing/demonstration periods when the server is available.)  When you run ImagiNation for the first time you will need to create a profile that will also act as your avatar in the Clubhouse.  We ask that when you create this profile, you choose a screenname that is representative of your real name.  If your name is John Doe good choices would be John, JohnD, or JDoe.

After you have created your profile, you can press the PLAY button to begin the login process at which point the client will ask you to provide a password.  Currently you can enter any password that you want;  the server doesn't perform any account validation yet.  The client software has some restrictions on passwords and won't accept any password under 6 characters in length.

When the login process is complete you will be sent to the INN Map.  From here you can select a 'land' to enter for chat and games.  The number and type of lands available will depend on the testing or demonstration taking place.
